"UNDERSTANDING PAPILLON COLOURS"

I am finding that people are confused about the colours of this breed & it is understandable because they aren’t standardized across the board. Different breeds use the same words such as Sables, but they are very different depending on the breed. In the Papillons I will try to make it clear.

PAPILLON COLOURS:

BLACK & WHITE          - no other colours allowed
BLACK WHITE & TAN  -dog is Blk & Wh but has a few Brown hairs in  ears   under the tail
TRI-COLOURED           - dog is Blk & Wh has Orange patches on face, cheeks & eyebrows
RED & WHITE             - no other colours allowed
LEMON & WHITE       - no other colours allowed
LEMON SABLE            - dog is Lemon & White with Black hairs in ears, face, body & or tail
RED SABLE                 - dog is Red & White with Black hairs in ears, facebody & or tail
DARK SABLE              - dog is Brown & White with Black hairs in ears, face, body & or tail

ALL SABLES  may or may not have a full or partial Black Mask on their faces.

NOTE:

PUPPIES   BORN DARK SABLE  USUALLY LIGHTEN AS THEY GROW
& CAN TURN INTO RED SABLES , WHEN THEY BLOW THEIR PUPPY COAT.

"GREAT FOR APARTMENT DWELLERS"

We have been litter training our puppies for several years now, we used to paper train, but this is so much easier & cleaner. No shredded paper everywhere, it is so much neater. We use 100% Pure Alfalfa Rabbit Pellets,no chemicals, no perservatives,no perfumes just pure alfalfa grass in pellet form & bonus it clumps too. The puppies can eat it, with no worries & it is cheap.

We start our puppies from the time, they can climb out of their bed,you just set it up so they can't fail. Dogs do not want to dirty their den by instinct, so as soon as they are able they climb out of their bed voila- they are right in the litter box. As the puppies get older, I reduce the number of pans, until there is just one row along the wall. When they are out of the pen playing in the kitchen, they will actually go looking for the litter box.

People say, oh! I don't want my puppy litter trained, I want him to go outside. OF COURSE YOU DO !!!!!, this is just a tool, the same as paper training, unless you live in high rise apartments. Trust me, I want them to go outside too!!!!
